Landing in Brixton’s Brockwell Park this August for its second year is Sunfall. Designed by the curators of London electronic clubs XOYO and Phonox, as well as Croatian dance festival Outlook, Sunfall provides a small yet expansive selection of exclusive sets, from pioneering house DJs to experimental techno masterminds.
Advocating a stripped back festival approach, co-founders have expressed their commitment to the reduction of gimmicky entertainment, going all out to craft a superior festival sound system in order to experience the best of underground dance music in its purest form.
Some of the most sought-after DJs on the circuit will be making appearances over the course of the day. Glaswegian disco-raver Jackmaster will be bringing his funky mastermix vibes to the stage, along with soulful vintage groove sets from Motor City Drum Ensemble and Move D, two of the best European selectors going. If you are in the mood for something moodier, Antal and Ben UFO will be injecting some deeper, lo-fi house beats.
Throughout the day, you can also expect to see live sets from instrumental electronic composer Floating Points, Ninja Tune staple Romare, and a special one-off live set from Larry Heard AKA Mr.Fingers, the first live London show from the Chicago house legend in 20 years.
Sunfall prides itself on a unique format: “party together by day, go your own way by night…”. This concept allows festival-goers entry to one of several individual night sessions, taking place in a variety of esteemed dance venues across London – Village Underground, Corsica Studios and MangleE8 to name but a few. With 10 sessions, varying in sound and aesthetic, there is a line-up catering to every desire. Personally, I will be getting in line for Horse Meat Disco x Move D at Phonox, although Beautiful Swimmers x Bradley Zero at Bianco Road Brewing Co. made this a tough decision…
Sunfall will take place on the 12th August in Brixton. Click here for full line-up, venue and ticket information.
