Stuck for something to do with your bank holiday? Gala festival is bringing the holy trinity of disco to the heart of South London for a day festival, with banging street food stalls, local craft drinks and unrivalled city views.

Held in Brixton’s Brockwell Park, Gala is a community-driven event celebrating the very best of local talent, with independent food from the likes of Killa Dilla and The Joint and craft beers from Brixton Brewery alongside renowned house DJs and live acts.

What’s more, the event organisers are bringing together the holy trinity of disco to provide disco tunes and confetti-fuelled funk and soul late into the night. Paradise Garage DJs, Horse Meat Disco and Studio 54’s Nicky Siano are headlining, with support from Harvey Sutherland & Bermuda, Mood II Swing, Moxie and Bas Ibellini. Late Night Tuff Guy will perform a set dedicated to the late David Bowie, and Crazy P is set to perform with a whole live band.

The banquet area showcases the best in South London’s ten independent street food traders, with dirty burgers from Honest Burgers, gooey, cheesy pizzas from Made of Dough, fried chicken from Chicken Shop and salted caramel brownies, salted peanut butter pretzels and salted caramel marshmallows from Camberwell-based Fatties Bakery.

And you won’t go thirsty, with local craft beers provided by Brixton Brewery, Canopy Beer and Peckham’s Brick Brewery. Glastonury’s own The Beat Hotel operators Soulshakers will be organising the bars – so no queues for your pint.

With independent records on sale from Rye Wax and summer party games galore, enjoy unrivalled views over the city as Gala kick-starts the summer the South London way.

Combining independent music and street food heaven, the party aims to recreate the easy-going, party-loving atmosphere of 1970s New York hedonism at its finest. Grab a ticket while you still can.

Gala festival will be held at Brockley Park, Brixton, on Sunday 28th May 2017. Visit www.thisisgala.co.uk for the full line-up, venue and ticket information.
